It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Sessa, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and cherished friend, who left this world peacefully on April 6, 2026, at the age of 66. She passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, a testament to her enduring strength and resilience.
Nancy was born on February 5, 1960, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Joan and George Goldstein. She was the little sister to her brother Lawrence. She was raised in a home filled with love and laughter, qualities she carried throughout her life and shared with everyone she met. After graduating in Augusta, Maine, where she obtained her GED, Nancy dedicated herself to a career of service, working for over 20 years in the medical records department of the Department of Corrections. Known affectionately as "Nurse Nancy," her dedication and care touched the lives of many. After her retirement, she brought her vibrant energy to Dalene Flooring, where she continued to work with enthusiasm and dedication.
Nancy's life was marked by her vibrant spirit and zest for life. An avid bowler, she won numerous tournaments in her youth, and her competitive spirit extended to billiards and card games like Set Back. She loved relaxing and exploring new places, making cruises one of her favorite pastimes. She had a passion for arts and crafts and found joy in the thrill of the casino. Known for her outgoing personality, Nancy had the remarkable ability to make friends wherever she went. Her humor, loyalty, and stubbornness were legendary, and she was never shy about speaking her mind, always ensuring that those she loved were supported and encouraged.
Family was the cornerstone of Nancy's life. She was the devoted mother of her two sons, Matthew and Justin Sessa, who were her pride and joy. Her heart was further enriched by her six grandchildren, with whom she shared countless cherished memories. She adored being nicknamed "Fancy Nancy" and "Mimi" by her granddaughters. She enjoyed picking out special gifts for each grandchild for the holidays, so much that she would begin shopping in the summer. Nancy’s love and commitment to her family were unwavering, and her presence was a guiding light in their lives.
In her early years, Nancy married Kenneth Sessa, though they parted ways and their lives took different paths; Nancy was steadfast in building loving home for herself and their boys. Later in life she found companionship and love with Raymond Eldrige, with whom she spent her final years.
A dedicated member of TKB Rockville and The Maple Grove Rockville, Nancy’s community involvement was a reflection of her generous spirit and her dedication to those around her. She found joy in making diamond paintings, that she would travel to craft fairs on weekends, selling her work and cultivating that community as well.
Nancy is predeceased by her parents, Joan Schuckman and George Goldstein. She is survived by her older brother Lawrence Goldstein, his wife Rose and their two boys Josh and Blake. Her eldest son Matthew, his wife Christine and their daughter Evaleigh, as well as her youngest son a Justin, his wife Crystal their children, Darren, Gabbie, Nathan, Leland, and Francesca. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends, who will continue to carry her legacy of love, laughter, and resilience.
In celebrating Nancy's life, we remember a woman who lived fully and loved deeply. Her laughter, her spirit, and her unyielding support will be dearly missed but forever cherished. As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, we hold onto the memories that will eternally keep her close in our hearts.
