In Loving Memory

Nancy Samp
May 25, 1946 — February 7, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Samp, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Nancy was born on May 25, 1946, in the picturesque town of Roseburg, Oregon, to John and Katherine Samp. She gracefully departed this world after a courageous yearlong battle with cancer, surrounded by the warmth of her home and the love of her family.
Nancy's life was a testament to love, resilience, and community. She was predeceased by her cherished parents, John and Katherine, her siblings Joseph and Molly, and her beloved sister-in-law, Mildred. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mike, who stood by her side for nearly six decades after they exchanged vows in August 1968. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, rooted deeply in the fertile soil of their family farm.
A graduate of Roseburg High School in 1964, Nancy chose a path that led her away from the conventional and into the heart of entrepreneurship. Alongside Mike, her high school sweetheart, they founded and nurtured a successful family farm and butchering business, embodying the spirit of hard work and dedication. Their partnership was not just in business, but in life, as they cultivated not only crops but a loving family and strong community ties.
Nancy was known for her warm smile and soft voice, qualities that endeared her to everyone she met. She never knew a stranger, and her home was always open, filled with the comforting aroma of her baked goods. An avid baker, Nancy found joy in the kitchen, crafting treats that brought people together. She was equally passionate about the outdoors, ensuring that her family embraced the beauty of nature.
Nancy's legacy lives on through her children, Tracey Smith and her husband Dary, and Kenon McGhee, as well as her three treasured grandchildren, Keely, Marissa, and Cameron. They, along with her many friends and extended family, carry forward her spirit of kindness and generosity.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on February 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM, at the Samp Family Farm. It is a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was so deeply intertwined with the land she loved. The immediate family would like to thank everyone for their attendance and support today, a testament to the many lives Nancy touched.
In our hearts, Nancy will forever remain a beacon of light and love, a gentle reminder of the beauty of a life well-lived. As we gather to honor her memory, let us carry forward her legacy of warmth, kindness, and community. Rest peacefully, dear Nancy, in the embrace of the heavens, as you once embraced us all.
