Nancy Renee West Fowler
November 24, 1967 — September 14, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Nancy Renee West Fowler, who left us on September 14, 2026. Born on November 24, 1967, in Ganado, Texas, Nancy's vibrant spirit and boundless love left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Nancy was the cherished daughter of Emma Lee Taylor West Raby Hawes and the late Joseph "Wayne" West, and stepdaughter to the late Dennis Sherman Raby. She was predeceased by her brother, Jerry Wayne West, as well as her maternal grandparents, Gladys and Ernie Sutton, and her paternal grandparents, Joyce and Dan Raby. Her legacy of love and kindness lives on through her devoted daughter, Dallas Fowler, her treasured grandchildren, Symphony Fowler and Nova Newman, her son, Dennis Oliphant, and her sister, Connie Barrientes.
A proud graduate of Calhoun High School, Nancy's love for the sea led her to pursue her dream of becoming a Master Captain. She achieved this by earning her Master Captain’s License from the Stewart Maritime Academy, a U.S. Coast Guard-approved school. Her dedication and passion for her craft were evident in every aspect of her life, especially when she was fishing, beach-combing, or simply enjoying the serenity of the water.
Nancy possessed a fierce loyalty and deep kindness that touched everyone she met. Her infectious laugh could fill any room, and her rare ability to make everyone feel seen and valued was a testament to her beautiful soul. Her presence was a beacon of warmth and joy, and she will be truly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
