Born on December 13, 1936, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Nancy was the beloved daughter of Andy McGrath and Lucille Klecker. A bright student with a melodious voice, she completed her high school education in Van Nuys, California, where she left a mark with her academic prowess and her wonderful singing.
Nancy's life was a tapestry of diverse experiences, woven through various careers that enriched her journey. Among these, her time at the Sultan bar in Williams, Arizona, stood out as a period filled with fond memories and cherished friendships. Her work there was more than just a job; it was a chapter of joy and connection.
A woman of many talents, Nancy's green thumb was legendary. She transformed simple gardens into flourishing havens, reflecting her nurturing spirit. Her culinary skills were equally renowned, with her canned recipes becoming treasured family favorites. Nancy had a unique passion for collecting Kachina dolls, a hobby that spoke to her appreciation for beauty and culture.
Nancy's kindness and generosity were the cornerstones of her character. She was a beacon of warmth and compassion, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone in need. Predeceased by her loving parents, Anne McGrath, Lucille McGrath, and George Riley, Nancy is survived by her devoted children, Jim Hicks and Linda Hicks, who carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. She was a cherished grandmother to six grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Nancy's passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. In their own words, "Mom, you will be dearly missed.
