Nancy Carol Blankenship

It is with profound sadness yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Nancy Justice Blankenship on September 11, 2026. Nancy was born on September 20, 1949, in Justice, West Virginia, to Nathan Justice and Belva Browning-Justice. She left this world peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love and warmth of her cherished family. Nancy was the embodiment of love and empathy, never knowing a stranger and never allowing anyone to cry alone. Her compassionate spirit touched everyone she met. She was described by many as "a sweet soul," and her genuine kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew her. A proud graduate of Gilbert High School, Nancy dedicated her life to her family and community as a devoted homemaker and stay-at-home mother. She was an active and beloved member of the Berean Baptist Church since 2001, where she found immense joy and fulfillment in her faith and fellowship. Nancy's love for her family was unparalleled. She cherished every moment spent with her children, Belvia Harper and her husband William, Lewis Blankenship, John Blankenship and his former partners Tina and Talonda, and Amy Blankenship. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, William Harper II, Matthew Harper and fiancée Amber, Jason Henry, Cameron Henry and fiancée Jada, Brianna Henry, Johnathan Blankenship, and Jayden Blankenship, as well as her great-granddaughters, Peyton and Mackenzie Fortunato-Harper. Nancy was also a loving sister to Charles Justice and his wife Marilyn, and Maxine Vest and her husband David, alongside many nieces and nephews. Nancy found joy in the simplest pleasures of life, like watching "Little House on the Prairie," "The Waltons," or listening to gospel music. She had a special fondness for birds and cherished her collection of bird memorabilia, a passion that reminded her of her family's porch-sitting days. Known for her infectious laughter that would shake her whole body, Nancy brought joy and lightness to those around her, even in mischievous moments. Preceding Nancy in death were her parents, Nathan and Lake Justice, her brothers Nathan Justice Jr. and Darryl Justice along with his wife Tammy, her sisters Delena Ellis with her husband Ray, and Rayvenne Cline and her husband Willie. She was also predeceased by her nephews Bradley Justice and Eddie Ellis, her niece Alicia Justice, and her ex-husband Lewis Blankenship. Nancy's life was a testament to unwavering love, resilience, and generosity. She leaves behind not only a loving family but also dear friends Briana, Aliana, Sara Catherine Wittman, and her cherished church family. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Nancy's memory to organizations that promote community and family well-being, reflecting her lifelong commitment to caring and giving. Nancy Justice Blankenship's life was a blessing, and her memory will forever be a treasure to those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love she so freely gave in life.
