Najee Diaahan Wharton

In loving remembrance, we honor the life of Najee Wharton, who passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026 at 6:00pm. He departed this life with his eyes fixed on the horizon, actively pursuing his dream of taking the wheel as a professional semi-truck driver. Born on April 16, 1977, in Presidio, California, Najee was a true beacon of dedication, love, and kindness. Raised in a home filled with warmth and encouragement, Najee was the cherished son of Nathaniel D. and Kay K. Wharton, who survive him and hold his memory dear. Najee's journey in life was shared with his brother, Najeeb D. Wharton, and his sister-in-law, Yukiko. He was a devoted husband to Yumi Wharton, with whom he built a beautiful family, including their beloved children, Jaylen R. Wharton and Mia Wharton. Najee's educational journey began at Currituck High School, graduating in 1995. Following high school, he answered the call to serve his country in the United States Air Force. From August 1995 to March 2006, Staff Sergeant Wharton served with bravery and distinction, earning several commendations, including the Air Medal and the Aerial Achievement Medal. His service was characterized by integrity, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. After his military service, Najee pursued higher education at the College of The Albemarle, earning dual Associate degrees in Science and Arts in Pre-Engineering by 2009. His professional career saw him excel in the manufacturing industry, where he led teams with Denso International America Inc. and later at Nexsolution. His leadership and expertise left an indelible mark on all who worked with him. Najee was a man of many talents and interests. He found joy and fulfillment in auto repairs, electronics, and car stereos, but his heart was most at peace when fishing. The tranquility of the water and the simple joy of a day spent with family and friends were treasures to him. His laughter and jubilation, especially when sharing the thrill of a catch, were gifts that he generously shared with those he loved. Known for his immense generosity and ever-present smile, Najee had a unique gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. His selflessness and kindness touched countless lives, leaving a legacy of love and compassion. In addition to his immediate family, Najee leaves behind a nephew, Elijah of Bothell, Washington, and a niece, Gaylia Wharton of Idaho. He is fondly remembered by his five aunts, Apostle Faye Richardson, Beverly Lindsey (and husband Len), Sue Dawson, Linda Isom Rogers, and Rhonda Wharton, as well as his uncles, Reggie and Eric Wharton. A wide circle of extended family and dear friends will forever cherish his memory.
