Nadine Ashmore McGreevey

May 2, 1933 — December 9, 2025

In Loving Memory of Nadine Born on May 2, 1933, in the serene coastal town of Asbury Park, NJ, Nadine graced the world with her presence, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. She peacefully passed away at her cherished family home in Manasquan, NJ, on December 9, 2025, enveloped by the love of her children and beloved granddaughter. Nadine was the treasured daughter of Henry Warren Ashmore and Lillian Florence Yetman Ashmore, who instilled in her the values of kindness, dedication, and community spirit. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, James R. McGreevey, in 1998, with whom she shared 31 beautiful years of marriage. Their journey together began in 1967, when they exchanged vows in their home on North Main Street, a place that would become the nurturing ground for their family. A proud alumna of Manasquan High School, class of 1951, Nadine pursued a career in healthcare, becoming a certified dental assistant and later a medical assistant. Her compassionate nature led her to work at Fort Monmouth and eventually as a distinguished practice manager at the James J. Howard Outpatient Clinic, where she dedicated 13 years of service before retiring. Nadine's life was deeply intertwined with the Manasquan Friends Meeting, which she attended from the tender age of three. Her unwavering devotion to the community was evident through her roles as Clerk of the First Day School, teacher, and enthusiastic participant in countless social activities. Her leadership of the Friendly Fair's jewelry table for 25 years is fondly remembered. Her culinary talents were legendary, and her kitchen was always filled with the tantalizing aromas of her cooking, especially her renowned cheesecake, a recipe held in secret by her daughter and son. Nadine's warmth and generosity extended beyond her family; she was a cherished friend and confidante, always ready with practical support and a kind word. She is survived by her devoted children, Nadine Louise Stensland and James Patrick McGreevey, and her adored granddaughter, Meghan Elizabeth "Daff" McGreevey, who continue to reside in the family home. Her legacy also lives on through numerous nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and -nephews from the Ashmore and McGreevey families. A memorial service to celebrate Nadine's life will be held on October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Manasquan Friends Meeting on Meetinghouse Road. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Nadine's memory to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), an organization she held dear. As her family fondly echoes, "And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest," Nadine's spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her love and wisdom will forever remain a guiding light in the hearts of her family and friends.
