It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Myrtle Louise Barnette, who peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on the 27th of June, 2026, at the age of 104. Born on June 7, 1922, in the quaint town of Wingate, North Carolina, Myrtle's life was a tapestry of love, faith, and dedication.
Myrtle Louise Barnette, known affectionately as "Mother Barnette" to many, was a beacon of light to all who had the privilege of knowing her. She received her formal education in Anson County, North Carolina, laying the foundation for a life steeped in wisdom and grace. Myrtle was a devoted homemaker and later contributed her nurturing spirit to the CMS school system, where she left a lasting impression on countless young minds.
A woman of unwavering faith, Myrtle was a faithful member of the New Testament Holiness Church, where she served alongside her late sister, Pastor Mary White. Her spiritual journey continued at the Throne of Grace under Pastor MH Russell, where she was cherished until her final days. Myrtle's love for gospel music was profound, and her voice was a testament to her devotion. She found immense joy in singing, crocheting, reading, and sharing the word of God with others, embodying the very essence of compassion and joy.
Myrtle's life was a testament to her quick wit, discerning nature, and boundless compassion. Her delightful sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her, and her smile was a source of comfort and warmth. She was a woman of remarkable strength, never wavering in her dedication to her family and faith.
Preceded in death by her loving husband, LaSille Barnette, and her dear children, Herbert Timmons and Brenda Timmons, Myrtle now joins them in eternal peace. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her cherished daughters: Betty Deese, Phyllis Cowan, Carolyn Timmons, Barbara Stamatiou (Constantine), Deborah Hughes (Leroy), Kay Bustillo, and Annette Forte (Nathan). Her special granddaughter, Tonya Agurs, and special grandson, John Deese, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
