With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Myrtle L. Cosby, who left this world on August 22, 2023, at Glory Hills Hospital. Born on June 22, 1939, in Olive Branch, Myrtle brought joy and warmth to everyone she encountered during her 84 years of life.
Myrtle was the cherished daughter of Gerald and Tammy Mullins, who instilled in her a sense of determination and independence that she carried throughout her life. In 1977, Myrtle found love and companionship with William Beau Cosby, with whom she shared 41 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2018. Their union was a testament to the power of partnership and mutual respect. In recent years, Myrtle found solace and joy in the company of her special friend, Linda Hammer of Cold Springs, MS, who brought much light into her life.
A dedicated professional, Myrtle worked as a secretary for Jim Hogg Enterprises from 1977 to 1989. Her diligence and commitment to her role were widely recognized and appreciated by colleagues and friends alike. Myrtle's work ethic was matched by her sense of humor and warmth, qualities that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
Although she had no formal religious affiliations, Myrtle was a strong atheist who lived her life with unwavering integrity and a commitment to her personal beliefs. She was never one to shy away from a spirited discussion and was always eager to share her thoughts and ideas with others.
Myrtle's true passions lay in the great outdoors. She loved nothing more than spending time on the water, boating and fishing, always finding peace and contentment in nature's embrace. Myrtle also cherished celebrating with friends, creating memories filled with laughter and love that will be treasured by those who knew her.
In her later years, Myrtle faced many challenges with remarkable grace and resilience. Her strength and courage in the face of adversity were an inspiration to all. Although she had no grandchildren, Myrtle's legacy lives on in the hearts of her extended family and friends.
Myrtle L. Cosby will be forever loved and missed. Her memory will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Myrtle's memory to a charity of choice. A private celebration of Myrtle's life will be held at a later date for close friends and family to honor her remarkable journey.
Rest in peace, dear Myrtle. Your spirit will sail on forever in our hearts.
