Myrtis Marie Hildebrandt
November 2, 1930 — April 6, 2026
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce the peaceful passing of Myrtis Marie Hildebrandt, who left this world on April 6, 2026, at the age of 95. Born on November 2, 1930, in the charming town of Reynolds, Georgia, Myrtis lived a life full of grace, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community.
Myrtis was the cherished daughter of Mildred and Henry Morris, who instilled in her a sense of fairness and justice that she carried throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents and siblings, Henry B Morris, Mildred Blanch, Larry Morris, and Michael Morris, as well as her dear husbands, Willie Calhoun and William Hildebrandt.
Surrounded by a loving family, Myrtis leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness. She is survived by her adoring nieces, Kimberly Thomas and Brionna Williams, her devoted nephew, Henry Kirkland Morris, and her caring cousin, Carolyn Franklin. Her presence will also be missed by a host of other nieces, nephews, friends, and family members who were touched by her love and generosity.
Myrtis dedicated over 30 years of her professional life as a supervisor at the Department of Defense, where she exemplified leadership and commitment. Her passion for community service was evident in her many roles, including her cherished time as an avid bowler, where she earned numerous accolades. Her volunteer work at the Detroit Opera House and the Fox Theatre, along with her active participation in Precious Blood Catholic Church (later merged into St. Peter Claver), where she served as an usher and lector, showcased her devotion to cultural and spiritual life.
Her contributions to the community extended beyond the church walls. Myrtis volunteered as a lunch mom at Gesu Elementary School and led the Pinehurst Block Club as president for more than 30 years. She was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration for all who knew her.
In her personal time, Myrtis found joy in the tranquility of gardening, sharing its bountiful benefits with her loved ones. Her home was a sanctuary of peace and beauty, reflecting her belief in fairness, justice, and hospitality.
A celebration of Myrtis's remarkable life will be held on April 17, 2026, at 9:45 AM at Saint Priscilla Catholic Church, located at 19120 Purlingbrook, Livonia, MI 48152. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Myrtis are invited to attend and honor her memory.
