Myrtis Latson

October 18, 1949 — June 8, 2026

It is with a profound sense of loss, yet a spirit buoyed by cherished memories, that we announce the passing of Myrtis Latson, a beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend. Born on October 18, 1949, in the quaint town of Saluda, South Carolina, Myrtis graced this world with her vibrant presence until June 8, 2026, when she peacefully departed after a courageous battle with illness. Myrtis was a cherished daughter of the late Arnold and Florence Culbreath, who instilled in her the values of resilience and love. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Tim Latson; her dearly missed daughter, Marlon Crafton; her sister, Mary Elizabeth; and her parents, Arnold and Florence. Her legacy continues through her loving family: her devoted sister, Vera Heath; her cherished children, Felicia V. Moody, William Moody Sr., and Brandy Moody; her beloved nieces, Deborah Keller (and spouse Marvin Keller) and Diane Odom (and spouse Derrick Odom). She also leaves behind a host of grandchildren who were the light of her life: JaVante’ R. Moody, John W. Pickney, Tiara Bush, William Moody Jr., Jaquez Crafton, Lanaia Moody, Branden Walker, Major Porter, and Hope Porter. Javante’ Bakari Moody. Myrtis was blessed with the joy of six grandchildren and the immense delight of twelve great-grandchildren, each carrying forward her vivacious spirit. Myrtis spent her professional years as a dedicated saleswoman at Dillard’s, where she worked diligently until her retirement in the early 2010s. Her vivacious spirit was not only evident in her professional life but also in her personal pursuits. Myrtis was known to be a rockstar, a woman who lived every day to the fullest, embracing laughter, joy, and the little moments that make life beautiful. Her love for walking, shopping, and cooking was matched only by her love for life itself. Myrtis was known for her sparkling smile and infectious laughter, always ready with a warm hug or a playful tease. Her spicy spirit was one of her defining traits, and she affectionately reminded those around her that it was best not to get on her bad side—always with a twinkle in her eye and a hearty "LOL!" The family extends a heartfelt invitation to join in celebrating Myrtis’s extraordinary life on June 27, 2026, at 12:00 noon. Services will be held at Westview Cemetery, located at 2051 Division St, Augusta, GA 30904, United States. In a special tribute to Myrtis, the family requests that attendees wear purple—a color that embodies her vibrant personality and enduring spirit. As we gather to honor Myrtis, let us remember her as she was: a beacon of joy, a source of strength, and a loving presence in the lives of all who knew her. She will forever remain in our hearts, a testament to a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and unyielding zest. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. May we all continue to celebrate and hold dear the memories of the remarkable Myrtis Latson, who will remain forever in our hearts.
