On June 3, 2026, the world lost a warm and compassionate soul. Carol Ann Souza, born on October 17, 1955, in Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with terminal cancer. Surrounded by the love of her family, Carol left this world with grace, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and love that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. Carol was the beloved daughter of the late Lawrence A. Souza and Dorothy Breaux Davis. She was also predeceased by her stepmother, Judith Souza, whose memories she cherished dearly. Carol was a devoted sister to her siblings, both those who have passed and those who survive her. Her sisters, Judith Irby and Margaret Martinez, and brother, William Desrosiers, shared a bond with Carol that was as strong as it was loving. Her surviving siblings, Peggy Davis, Debbie Robishaw, Nancy McGlynn, Charlene Pelski, Laurie Vandel, Lynda Souza, and brother Mark Souza, will remember Carol as a guiding light and a source of unwavering support. Carol's greatest joy came from her role as a mother and grandmother. She is survived by her children, Jeremy Souza, Derek Souza, Ricky Souza and Jessica Wellington, who will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness. Her five cherished grandchildren brought immense joy to her life, and she took great pride in their accomplishments and dreams. Educated in East Providence, Rhode Island, Carol embarked on a career as a caregiver, a profession that perfectly matched her nurturing and compassionate nature. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed and valued, and her generosity touched countless lives. Her colleagues and those she cared for remember her as a beacon of kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear. Carol's love for her family was the cornerstone of her life. She embraced every family gathering with open arms, cherishing the moments spent with loved ones. Her legacy is one of love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to her family and friends. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at CAMC Hospital and Hubbard Hospice House for their compassionate care during Carol's final days. Their kindness and support were a source of comfort to Carol and her family during this difficult time.
