In Loving Memory of Veola Alford Johnson
Veola Alford Johnson, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on July 8, 2026. Born on December 27, 1935, in the close-knit rural community of Lake Providence, Louisiana, Veola was the daughter of the late Rosie and Oscar C. Alford Sr. Her early years were marked by the warmth and love of family, values she carried with her throughout her life.
Veola was preceded in death by her cherished parents, her devoted husband, Joseph Johnson, her brothers Lawrence L. (Lillian) Moore and Oscar C. Alford Jr., and her sister Venorla (Earnest) Jefferson. Despite these profound losses, Veola remained a pillar of strength and grace, embodying a spirit of resilience that was admired by all who knew her.
Veola is survived by her loving children, Frank E. (Judy) Alford, Joyce (Stanley) Wyatt, Sr., Houston, Texas, Jeremy Curtis, Chicago, Illinois, as well as her sister, Bernice McMillan, Lake Providence, Louisiana. Her family was her pride and joy, and she took great delight in her five grandchildren: Byron (Kim) Shaw, Stanley Wyatt, Jr., Terrance Dismuke, Dannette Cole, and Shalina Wallace. She also leaves behind a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who will forever hold her memory dear.
Veola pursued a career in nursing and received her education as a practical nurse, demonstrating her lifelong commitment to caring for others. Her nurturing nature was evident not only in her profession but also in her personal life. Veola later transitioned to a career in food service, where she served as a manager for over 40 years. Her dedication and work ethic were unparalleled, and she left a lasting impact on her colleagues and community.
Upon retiring, in 2016 Veola moved to Houston, Texas, where she continued to surround herself with family, living with her daughter, and son-in-law. Her home was a haven of warmth and hospitality, a place where loved ones were always welcome.
A funeral service to celebrate Veola's life will be held on ___, 2026, at All Peoples' Funeral Home, 13035 Highway 6 Rosharon, Texas. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in the many wonderful memories she leaves behind.
Veola's legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
