My mother

February 12, 1950 — May 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. My mother peacefully departed this world on May 4, 2026, at her cherished home, after a brief illness. Born on February 12, 1950, in the close-knit community of Pennington Gap, Virginia, she was a beacon of love and strength to all who knew her. The daughter of Hubert Blevins and Josephine Myers, both of whom she joins in eternal rest, my mother was raised in a family that cherished strong values and deep-rooted faith. She graduated from Pennington High School in 1968, marking the beginning of a journey filled with love, friendship, and community service. On December 21, 1969, she married her soulmate, Wayne, and together they wove a tapestry of memories over 55 beautiful years. Though Wayne predeceased her, their love story continues to inspire those left behind. A devoted mother, she is survived by her children, Jody Willis Hill (Matthew) and Stephanie Willis Elliott (Wally). Her legacy of love extends to her cherished grandchildren, Mason Sexton, Jackson Elliott, Matthew Rogers, and Turner Elliott, and a precious great-grandson, Lucas Sexton. She also leaves behind her siblings, Jane Edwards (John) and Roger Blevins (Judy), alongside a host of nieces, nephews, and many treasured friends, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Her life was a testament to the joy found in simple pleasures and the importance of community. A long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Jonesville, Virginia, she found great joy in her faith and fellowship. Her passion for scrapbooking allowed her to capture and preserve moments of love and laughter, which she shared with the Jonesville Woman’s Club and the Red Hat Society. Known for her candid spirit, she was never shy to speak her mind. Her words, filled with wisdom and kindness, touched many lives and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. A service to honor her life will be held on May 9, 2026, at Robinette Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sleep in Heavenly Peace, an organization close to her heart, ensuring that children everywhere have a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads. Our family extends a heartfelt thank you to all who have shared their condolences and support during this time. Though our hearts ache with her absence, we are comforted by the love she gave and the countless memories she leaves with us. Her light will continue to guide us, reminding us always of the beauty and grace with which she lived her life.
