Mrs Agnes Osei Effah

May 14, 1936 — November 8, 2025

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, who departed this life on November 8, 2025, after a short illness. Born on May 14, 1936, in the serene town of Ampento in the Bekwai district, close to the tranquil waters of Lake Bosomtwe, she was a beacon of love, faith, and resilience throughout her 89 years. The daughter of the late Opanyin Kwadwo Abu and Madam Akosua Kwakye, she was married to the late Reverend Johnson Osei Effah, a devoted Presbyterian Minister. Together, they shared a life of faith and service, until his untimely passing left her to raise their eight children alone. Her husband’s memory was one she carried with grace and strength, and she continued to support his ministry even after his death. As a young girl, societal norms unfortunately limited her access to formal education, yet her brilliance and determination shone through. She pursued her education up to Middle School Form 4 and earned a Middle Leaving Certificate. Her academic prowess led her to complete the then-crush training for Pupil Teachers, known as Emergency Training. She began her career as a Pupil Teacher, moved on to work in nursery schools as a nursery nurse and teacher, and engaged in petty domestic trading. Later, she devoted her life to supporting her husband’s ministry, becoming a pillar of strength and dedication within the church community. An active member of the Presbyterian Church from infancy, she was baptized and confirmed in her local town, maintaining her unwavering faith throughout her life. Her involvement with the Women's Ministry was characterized by vigor, enthusiasm, dedication, and humility. Her leadership inspired many, and her commitment to her faith was a guiding light for all who knew her. Her love for reading was well-known, whether it was the newspaper, the Holy Bible, or other periodicals, she found joy in sharing her knowledge with others. An athlete at heart, she loved playing netball and football. Her energy and enthusiasm shone brightly during church-run sports events, where she showcased her athletic prowess. Most importantly, she loved to pray and share the Word of God with everyone she encountered. She was a woman of immense kindness, love, and care, often adopting vulnerable young children and raising them as her own. Her home was a sanctuary for strangers who found themselves stranded, offering refuge at no cost. She was a trusted counselor, providing marriage guidance and general advice to those in need. Her visits to the sick and the aged, where she would pray with and comfort them, will be remembered fondly by many. Her legacy lives on in her 7 children—3 daughters and 4 sons—15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and an extended family who adored her. Her sense of humor and ever-present smile brought joy to all who knew her, and her dedication to her family and community was unparalleled. As we say farewell to this extraordinary woman, we find solace in the words of Ecclesiastes 3:1-4: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Today, we celebrate Aunty Aggie’s life, legacy, and love, her unwavering commitment to her faith and her Creator. Her spirit will forever be a guiding light for all who had the privilege to know her. May her soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.
