My mother

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who left this world on April 16, 2026, at the age of 63. Born on October 19, 1962, in Chicago, IL, she graced us with her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering love. The daughter of Christina Given Shackelford and Jack Shackelford, she was a cherished soul from the very beginning. Her journey was marked by her resilience and her ability to find joy in the simplest of moments. Her life was a testament to the power of love, which she so freely gave and so deeply cherished. She was predeceased by her loving brother, Clay Shackelford; her dear sister, Jackie Denise; and her beloved aunt, Fale. We take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with them, enveloped in the love of those who went before her. Her legacy is carried forward by those she leaves behind: her devoted partner, Craig Little, who stood by her side through life's joys and challenges; her two daughters, Ciji Shackelford and Kristina Little, who were the pride and joy of her life; and her two grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable happiness and laughter. Although she did not serve in the military, her strength and courage were evident in the way she lived her life, ever the protector and nurturer of her family. Her education was a foundation upon which she built a life rich in experience and knowledge, skills she passed on to her children with pride. Her heart, though strong, succumbed to the weight of a broken heart, a testament to the depth of her love and the profound connections she formed throughout her life. Her spirit, however, remains unbreakable, living on in the hearts of those who adored her. As we bid farewell to our mother, we celebrate her life with gratitude for the treasured memories and the lessons of love she imparted. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. A memorial service will be held to honor her life and legacy, where family and friends will gather to share stories and celebrate the beautiful soul that she was. Though she has departed from this earthly life, her spirit will forever remain with us, guiding us and inspiring us to live with the same love and grace she so effortlessly embodied.
