My mother

February 9, 1943 — April 16, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, who departed this world on April 16, 2026, after a courageous and lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born on February 9, 1943, in Hackettstown, New Jersey, she graced this world with her presence for 83 beautiful years, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. The cherished daughter of Hurbert and Lucille Ackerman, she was a guiding light to her family and friends. Her early years were filled with the warmth of family bonds, alongside her sister, Judith Ann Spangler, who predeceased her. Our mother was a testament to the strength and nurturing spirit that defined her upbringing. Her life was a tapestry of cherished memories and selfless acts of love. As a mother, she was our confidante, our pillar of strength, and our greatest supporter. Her laughter was infectious, her wisdom boundless, and her love unconditional. She taught us the true meaning of compassion and the importance of kindness to all. She leaves behind her loving son, Richard Haggan, and his wife, Noelia, who were endlessly devoted to her care and well-being, as well as her beloved daughter, Lucinda Gallagher, who inherited her mother’s grace and fortitude. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched, resonating through the lives of her children and everyone fortunate enough to have been graced by her presence. Though our grief is profound, we find solace in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with her parents and sister in eternal rest. Her life was a testament to love and resilience, her memory a cherished beacon guiding us through life’s journey. We extend our deepest gratitude to the caregivers and medical professionals who provided comfort and support during her final years. Their compassion was a testament to the goodness that still exists in the world. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor the remarkable life she led and the everlasting impact she had on all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Alzheimer’s research in her memory, to aid in the fight against this devastating disease. Our mother, though no longer with us in body, will forever remain in our hearts, her spirit a guiding light in our lives. Rest in peace, dear mother; your love will forever embrace us.
