**In Loving Memory of Sondra Y Patton It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, who left us peacefully on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on November 25, 1950, in Boston, Massachusetts, she was the treasured daughter of the late Dorothy Holmes and Sims Patten, and the stepdaughter of Carter F. Holmes Sr., all of whom predeceased her along with her brother, Robert Britto. Her life was a testament to love, compassion, and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was a mother to Racquel, who is married to Richard Flynn of Pembroke, MA, and Brent Soares, who is engaged to Belin Mendez of Halifax, MA. She also embraced her stepdaughter, Jenna Kemp of Lowell, MA,. Her her grandchildren—Brent Soares Jr., Dalvin Soares, and Austin Flynn—each of whom she loved. She stood as a pillar of strength and warmth in her family, supported lovingly by her brother, Carter Holmes Jr. and his wife, Yolande, as well as her best friend and sister, Monica “Nina” Jones. Her nephew, Brandon Holmes, and his fiancée, Keisha, were also close to her heart. Her memory will continue to be cherished by many friends who were touched by her kindness. A proud graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School, she pursued her passion for helping others by earning a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from Mass Bay Community College. Her commitment to caring for others was evident throughout her distinguished 40-year career in the medical field. She dedicated herself to her work as a Dental Oral Surgery Assistant and Nursing Assistant in Women’s Health at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA, where she made a difference in countless lives. Her zest for life extended beyond her professional achievements. She found immense joy in the simple pleasures – the warmth of the beach, the thrill of swimming, and the adventures of traveling. Her love for music was infectious, and she had a particular fondness for "thrifty shopping," always finding joy in discovering hidden treasures. Her radiant smile could brighten any room, and her infectious laughter was a melody that brought happiness to all who heard it. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we remember her not only for the love she shared with her family and friends but for her unwavering dedication to making the world a better place. Her legacy of kindness, laughter, and unconditional love will forever remain in our hearts. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to celebrate her life on Saturday May 16th Her journey on this earth may have ended, but the love she shared and the memories she created will live on eternally.
