It is with profound sadness and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, My Jewish Grandmother, who left this world peacefully on June 3, 2026, at the age of 98. Born on September 13, 1927, in Bialystok, Poland, she was a beacon of resilience and love throughout her extraordinary life. Grandmother was the cherished daughter of Ellis Goldstein, and she carried her family's legacy forward with grace and strength. Her life was a testament to the power of love and devotion, values she held dear throughout her years. In 1958, on a beautiful autumn day, she married the love of her life, David Goldstein, and together they built a family that would become her greatest pride and joy. As a devoted wife, she stood by David's side, nurturing a home filled with warmth, wisdom, and unyielding support. Her commitment to her family was unparalleled, and she found immense joy in the company of her children, David, Matthew, and Sally, who inherited her passion for history and commitment to family. Her family continued to grow, blessing her with nine grandchildren: Maranda Smith, Hailey Goldstein, Chelsea Goldstein, Cayla Goldstein, Kimberly Goldstein, David Roberson, Zack Goldstein, Tommy Vo, and Juan Gonzalez Smith, each of whom she adored beyond measure. Her legacy also extends to her 16 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry forward her spirit of kindness, strength, and humor. Grandmother's life was marked by her service in the Israeli Defense Force, where she contributed to the logistics efforts with dedication and resolve. Her commitment to service extended beyond the military; she was also an avid historian, deeply passionate about the stories of the past and the lessons they held for future generations. Those who knew her will remember her for her no-nonsense attitude, quick wit, and infectious laughter that could light up even the darkest of rooms. Her memory was unparalleled—she never forgot, yet she always forgave, teaching all who knew her the true meaning of grace and compassion. A devout woman of faith, she remained steadfast in her beliefs, which guided her through life's challenges and triumphs. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, shaping her into the loving grandmother, mother, and wife that she was. A service to celebrate her life will be held on June 12, 2026, at 11:30 AM at Har HaMenuchot in Jerusalem, Israel. We invite all those whose lives she touched to join us in remembering and honoring her remarkable journey. While our hearts ache with her absence, we find comfort in the memories we shared and the lessons she imparted. Her laughter, wisdom, and unwavering love will forever remain a guiding light in our lives. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing.
