Frederick P. Plappert

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frederick Philip Plappert, who departed this world on August 13, 2026. Born on November 12, 1963, in Akron, Ohio, Fred was a cherished son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. Fred is survived by his devoted wife, Marilyn of 14 years with whom he built a beautiful life with that was filled with country music, love, and joy. Together, they created a home that was a sanctuary of warmth and kindness. Fred was the beloved son of Tim and Kitty Plappert of Cape Coral, FL and was predeceased by his biological mother, Sandy Ball, his grandparents Frederick C. and Mildred Plappert, Joseph and Sibyl Broderick, his in-laws Walter and Harriet Berner, and his sister-in-law, Laura Plappert. Fred's greatest pride and joy were his two daughters, Kristina and Heidi, both residing in Akron, Ohio. He was a loving and supportive father, always ready with a listening ear or a helping hand. His five grandchildren brought immense happiness to his life. Fred is also survived by his siblings, Debbie (Charles) Edmisten, David (Shirl) Hafner, Christopher Plappert, and Bridgitte Plappert, along with his sisters-in-law Marti (Ralph) Kennedy and Mary Berner, and dear friend Anne Marczynski. His extended family includes numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and countless friends, all of whom will miss him dearly. A man of many talents, Fred was known for his ability to solve any problem with grace and patience. He was well-loved and respected, both in school and in every community that he was part of. Fred graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1982 and continued his education at Eastern Michigan University, where he pursued Multi-Disciplinary Studies. He later obtained a certificate in Peer Counseling from Washington Behavioral Health. Fred's career was as diverse as his interests. He began his working life at Around the Clock Restaurant and Lujans in Cuyahoga Falls in 1982 as a Line cook, then he started working at McDonalds as a Crew Member in 1986, then he went on to working at Sparkle Market, later founding Fred Plappert Tax Service in Ypsilanti, Michigan. His career as a Tax Preparer with Jackson Hewitt Tax Services, Inc., from 2015 to 2020, was marked by professionalism and dedication. Fred also enjoyed working as a line cook at Mariners games in Seattle, where his culinary skills were put to good use. Deeply committed to his community, Fred volunteered as a Snohomish County Representative with the North Sound Behavioral Health Organization, advocating for those with mental health challenges. He was also actively involved with the 38th Legislative District Democrats and the Delta Neighborhood in Everett, WA. His faith was a guiding force in his life, and he was an active member of the Silver Lake Church of Christ in Everett, WA.
