My grandma
January 23, 1962 — April 16, 2015
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, simply known to many as "My Grandma," who departed this world on April 16, 2015, at the age of 53. Born on January 23, 1962, in Seshego Hospital, she was a cherished daughter of Dimpho and Issac, who instilled in her the values of love, resilience, and compassion.
My Grandma's journey was one filled with love and dedication. She was a pillar of strength and grace, navigating life's challenges with unwavering courage. Her life was a testament to the enduring spirit of humanity, having faced and valiantly battled HIV until her final days.
Educated by the esteemed Dimpho and Issac—her mother, a celebrated nurse with high qualifications, and her father, a skilled mechanical engineer—My Grandma was encouraged from a young age to pursue knowledge and empathy. Her parents, who married at Seshego in 1946, provided a nurturing home that was filled with warmth and love, raising their children with care and devotion.
Throughout her life, My Grandma was known for her compassion, her gentle demeanor, and her profound love for poetry. She was a beacon of light to all who knew her, always ready with a kind word and an open heart. Her father, Isaac, while a formidable presence, shared in her love for children, demonstrating a tender side that complemented her nurturing spirit.
Though she has left us too soon, My Grandma's legacy lives on in her 12 grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. She treasured each moment spent with them, imparting wisdom and love that will guide them for years to come.
Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who remain, including the many family members who predeceased her, such as Mahlogonolo, Thabang, John, Kholofelo, Shempi, Samson, France, and Joe. The family finds solace in knowing she is now reunited with them, embraced by the love and light she so generously shared during her time on Earth.
A service to honor and celebrate her remarkable life will be held at Zone T, where friends and family will gather to pay their respects and share cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Assopol Memorial Fund, which has been established in her memory to support those in need.
Our gratitude extends to everyone who supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness and generosity have been a source of comfort. My Grandma will forever remain in our hearts, her spirit a guiding light in our lives.
Rest in peace, dear Grandma. Your love, your laughter, and your legacy will never be forgotten.
