In Loving Memory

Leon Wise
February 12, 1950 — April 13, 2026
With heavy hearts but cherished memories, we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, known endearingly as "My Father," who left this world on April 13, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on February 12, 1950, in the vibrant city of Charlotte, North Carolina, he graced this world with 76 years of kindness, warmth, and unwavering love.
A proud alumnus of Vance High School, he graduated in 1968, embarking on a lifelong journey that touched the lives of many. Known for his gentle spirit and the profound impact he had on those around him, My Father was a beacon of strength and wisdom. His wisdom was not just learned from books but from the experiences of a life well-lived, filled with challenges met with resilience and triumphs celebrated with humility.
Though we mourn his departure, we celebrate a life that was rich in love and laughter. My Father was predeceased by his three beloved sons, Ondre Wise, Fred Wise, and Steven Wise. Despite this unimaginable loss, his strength never waned, and his spirit remained unbroken, a testament to his remarkable character.
Left to cherish his memory are his three surviving sons, who carry forward his legacy of love and integrity. His role as a grandfather was one he treasured dearly; his 12 grandchildren were the lights of his life, each visit and conversation painting a smile on his face that seemed to erase the years.
Family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate his life on April 29, 2026, at Lou Chapel, located at 2300 Fair Brook Drive, Charlotte, NC. The service will commence at 19:00, offering a moment for all who knew him to come together in gratitude for the time they were blessed to share with him.
In the words of those he held closest, "My Father was a kind man and a loving father. We miss you and love you." This special message from his family encapsulates the essence of a man whose heart was large enough to embrace everyone he met and whose legacy will live on in the stories shared and memories cherished.
As we say goodbye, we remember a life defined by love, generosity, and the quiet strength that inspired all who knew him. May his soul find peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us all to live with the same kindness and love that he so freely gave.
