In Loving Memory

Syrburt J Pottinger
December 5, 1968 — March 5, 2026
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, My Father, who departed this world peacefully on March 5, 2026. Born on December 5, 1968, in the serene and vibrant town of Trelawny, Jamaica, he graced this world with his presence for 57 beautiful years.
A cherished son of Emily G. Pottinger and Vincent Pottinger, he grew up surrounded by the love and warmth of his family, a foundation that would guide him throughout his life. His journey was one of love, laughter, and endless devotion to those he held dear. A loving husband to Kerry Ann Pottinger, he was her steadfast partner and confidant, sharing a life filled with cherished moments and unwavering support.
His legacy continues through his children, who were the pride and joy of his life: Jimmy Pottinger, Jasmine Pottinger, Simone Pottinger, and Jonathan Pottinger. He was a guiding light for his family, instilling values of love, integrity, and determination. His pride extended to his five grandchildren, whose lives he touched profoundly with his wisdom, stories, and unconditional love.
My Father had a zest for life that was truly infectious. He found joy and relaxation in the simple pleasures of life, such as cooking, where he would often fill the home with the tantalizing aromas of his culinary creations, bringing everyone together around the dinner table. His love for music was a constant melody that underscored his life, whether it was humming a tune, singing a favorite song, or simply appreciating the beauty of a harmonious note. Cars, too, captured his interest, and he could often be found in the garage, tinkering with engines, always eager to learn and explore the intricacies of their mechanics.
In every relationship, My Father shared his heart openly, forming bonds that were as deep as they were genuine. He was a man who understood the value of companionship and the importance of nurturing meaningful connections, leaving an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know him.
As we say goodbye, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Your kindness and presence mean more to us than words can express. We find comfort in knowing that My Father’s spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold and the love that surrounds us.
In honoring his life, let us celebrate the love he shared, the lessons he imparted, and the legacy he leaves behind. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we all carry forward his spirit of love and kindness as a tribute to the remarkable man he was.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate his life and the joy he brought to so many. Details will be shared with family and friends in due course.
