My Father

January 20, 1960 — April 4, 2026

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, son, and brother, My Father, who departed this world on April 4, 2026, after a courageous journey with Parkinson's disease. Born on January 20, 1960, in Long Island, NY, he was a beacon of strength and love for all who knew him. My Father was born to Manny and Diana Leventhal. He was predeceased by his cherished mother, Diana, but is survived by his devoted father, Manny, who ensured that the spirit of family and unity was always at the forefront of their lives. In his early years, My Father demonstrated an unparalleled drive, establishing himself as a successful businessman. Before the birth of his children, he would travel to sock mills in South Carolina, rent a U-Haul, and drive his full load back to New York City. There, he would meticulously carry the goods up several flights of stairs, packaging them for sale at local flea markets. His entrepreneurial spirit was deeply admired, and he thrived in this venture until the family moved to Florida. In Florida, My Father's adaptability shone brightly. He initially sought to continue his sock business, but when faced with different market demands, he demonstrated resilience by working at a boys' home for troubled youth in the heart of a swamp—an experience that shaped his character and deepened his compassion for others. Later, driven by his love for exploration, My Father opened a travel business, which he successfully ran for over 30 years until the impact of COVID-19. His passion for travel was infectious, and he inspired many to see the world through his eyes. A man of many interests, My Father loved playing soccer and pool, frequenting synagogue, and finding joy in yard sales and auctions. His commitment to his family and his work ethic was unparalleled, qualities he imparted to his children with pride. My Father's personal life was filled with love and companionship. He was first married to Wendy in Long Island, NY, and together they embarked on a journey to Florida, where they raised their sons, Josh and Danny. In time, their paths diverged, and My Father found renewed happiness with his second wife, Melva, who, along with her son Joseph, became an integral part of his life. Together, Melva and My Father welcomed their daughter, Rose, completing the tapestry of a beautifully blended family. He leaves behind his beloved wife Melva, his sons Josh and Danny, his daughter Rose, his step-son Joseph, his father Manny, and his cherished sisters Tina and Alisa. He was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. A celebration of My Father's life will be held on April 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Bassett Creek Baptist Church, located at 320 Bassetts Church Rd, Grove Hill, AL 36451. The service will be a tribute to a life well-lived, filled with love, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to family and community. As we gather to honor My Father's memory, we find solace in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire those he loved most. His strength, compassion, and unwavering dedication to his family will forever be cherished and remembered.
