January 28, 1944 — May 4, 2026

In loving memory of a remarkable soul, "My Dad," who graced this world on January 28, 1944, in the quaint town of Lincolnton, North Carolina, and departed peacefully on May 4, 2026, after a valiant battle with illness. Surrounded by his loved ones and the comforting embrace of his devoted dog, Elmer, he left this life as he lived it—quietly, humbly, and with grace. Born to Sid and Anne Reinhardt Canipe, he was a beacon of kindness and authenticity, embodying the values instilled in him from an early age. His sister, Frances Canipe, along with his parents, predeceased him, yet their memory lingered in his heart, guiding him throughout his life. "My Dad" dedicated over 35 years of his life to Vermont American, a tool company where he was esteemed not just for his work ethic but also for his integrity and unwavering character. His colleagues and friends often spoke of his ability to be himself—humble, kind, and always genuine—qualities that earned him admiration and respect from everyone he encountered. A man of simple pleasures, he found profound joy in farming and gardening, tending to the earth with the same care and patience he extended to those around him. Deer hunting and fishing were among his cherished pastimes, pursuits that granted him peace and connection to nature. Surviving him is his beloved wife, Mary, who was his steadfast companion and confidante. Together, they built a life rich in love and shared experiences. His daughter, Christy Dellinger, along with her husband, Greg, carries forward his legacy of love and kindness. His granddaughters, Lexie and Lillie Richardson, were the light of his life, and he cherished every moment spent watching them grow. Though a private funeral ceremony will honor his memory, those wishing to pay tribute to his life may consider making a donation to Hospice, an organization that provided support and comfort to him and his family during his final days. In his quiet way, he listened more than he spoke, yet his presence was always felt and cherished. He had a unique way about him that everyone loved—a gentle spirit who touched the lives of many with his steadfast kindness. As we honor the life of "My Dad," let us remember him as the man who was always the same, no matter who he met; a man whose quiet strength, humility, and love left an indelible mark on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those he left behind.
