It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Ms. Gail Geter, who entered eternal rest on April 26, 2026, at the age of 75. Gail passed away peacefully at her residence, surrounded by the love and warmth of her cherished family. Born on August 31, 1950, in Hartwell, Georgia, Gail was the beloved daughter of the late Henry and Nina Lee Rucker Geter. Her upbringing was steeped in the values of faith, family, and community, laying the foundation for a life dedicated to compassion and service. Gail was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings Jessie Ruth Mattox, Margaret Dade, Albert Geter, Eugene Geter, Robert Geter, James Thomas Geter, John Geter, and Carolyn Fuller, all of whom she held dear in her heart. Gail's journey of faith began at St. James CME Church, where she was embraced by a nurturing spiritual community. Her devotion to her faith grew over the years, and she later transferred her membership to New Birth Baptist Church, where she became an integral part of the congregation, known for her generous spirit and unwavering kindness. A proud graduate of Hart County Training School in the class of 1970, Gail carried the values of education and lifelong learning throughout her life. Her commitment to personal growth and development was evident in her every endeavor, inspiring all who knew her to pursue their dreams with vigor and grace. Gail's legacy is most beautifully reflected in her loving family. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Chebar Smalls, and her three adoring grandchildren: Legend Lee Geter Holland, Ayla Divine Smalls, and Zion Messiah Smalls. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love, strength, and integrity. Gail is also survived by her beloved sister, Dorothy Parris, and a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she cherished deeply and held close to her heart. Gail's life was a testament to the power of love and the beauty of a generous spirit. Her kindness touched the lives of many, and her memory will be a guiding light for family and friends alike. In every moment, Gail's legacy of compassion, faith, and resilience will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their support and condolences during this difficult time. Gail's life will be celebrated with a service at New Birth Baptist Church, where she found joy and fellowship. Details of the service will be shared with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Gail's memory, as a tribute to her lifelong dedication to giving and helping others. May the memory of Gail Geter forever be a blessing to us all.

"A Gentle Light"
You were the quiet strength in every room,
A steady light that softened every storm.
Your laughter lived in corners of our hearts,
A melody that time cannot deform.
You held us close with hands so full of love,
Gave more than words could ever quite explain.
And though you’ve gone beyond what we can see,
Your warmth still lingers, gentle as the rain.
I see you in the sunlight through the trees,
I hear you in the whispers of the breeze.
In every memory, your spirit stays—
A guiding love that never fades away.
Though tears may fall when I speak of your name,
They carry all the love you left behind.
For even death cannot erase the mark
Of someone who was endlessly kind.
So rest now, Gail, in peaceful, endless light—
Your journey’s done, your soul is finally free.
And until the day we meet again,
You’ll live forever in the heart of us.
