Mrs. Vashti Thompson
October 6, 1933 — August 18, 2026
Mrs. Vashti Thompson, a cherished matriarch and beloved community figure, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026, after a very brief illness. Born on October 6, 1933, in Lynch, Kentucky, Vashti was the daughter of Pastor Philip and Pera Lee Scott. Her life was a testament to faith, family, and unwavering kindness.
At the tender age of 16, Vashti graduated from Miller High School in Detroit, Michigan. In 1950, she married the love of her life, Mr. Reginald Thompson, with whom she shared 39 wonderful years until his passing. Together, they raised three children in a home filled with love and celebration.
Vashti's professional journey included years of dedicated service at Good Housekeeping, culminating in a fulfilling career at Detroit Receiving Hospital in the Medical Records Department, where she retired in 1996. Her commitment to her work was surpassed only by her devotion to her family and her faith.
A pillar of strength and wisdom, Vashti served as the Mother of the Church at Life Changers Ministries for over 26 years, affectionately known as "Mother Thompson." Her thirst for knowledge led her to earn a degree in Theology from Christian Life Center Bible School, enriching her spiritual journey and the lives of those around her.
Vashti was predeceased by her parents, Pastor Philip and Pera Lee Scott, her brothers, AC and PJ, her sisters, Bernice and Mary, and her beloved husband and daughter, Reginald and Regina. She is survived by her sons, Glenn (Alberta) and Michael, as well as over 20 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild, who continue her legacy of love and resilience.
Her family recalls her zest for life, her love of dance, and her joy in sharing precious moments with family, friends, and neighbors. Vashti's enduring spirit will be remembered by the many people she touched throughout the years.
In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice in her memory.
Mrs. Vashti Thompson's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, faith, and dedication. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and grace that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
