Mrs. Lula Mae Smith, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved friend, was peacefully called home on April 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her children. Born on January 30, 1952, in Shelby, Mississippi, Lula Mae was a beacon of warmth and resilience, whose legacy will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
Lula Mae was the treasured daughter of John Osborne and Beatrice Jones, who predeceased her, along with her loving husband Bennie F. Smith, with whom she shared 19 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2005. Together, they raised five children, instilling in them the values of faith, love, and perseverance. Lula Mae was also predeceased by her daughters, Benita J. Smith and Leslie M. Smith, and her sisters, Ella Keen, Iola Glenn, and Jennie Collins.

Lula Mae also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and close friends, including her lifelong friend Shuryl and sister Dorothy.
A woman of profound faith, Mrs. Lula Mae Smith was a dedicated member of the Tabernacle of Faith and Deliverance and later an ordained minister under the leadership of her sister Jennie Collins at Old Path Ministries. Her dedication to her faith and her community was evident in her lifelong service, both as a nurse at Stamers Nursing Home and through her private duty work, where she provided compassionate care to her clients until her retirement.
Known for her vibrant personality and quick wit, Lula Mae had a heart that served God first. Her love for singing the praises of the Lord was well-known, often creating her own unique renditions of hymns. Recently, when asked what she would do upon reaching heaven, Lula Mae joyfully declared, "I’m going to sing for the Lord."
Lula Mae's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her commitment to her family. Her loving spirit, feisty nature, and steadfast dedication to fostering unity and love among her family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
