Mrs. Era Mae Patrick, a cherished soul and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026, surrounded by her beloved children and grandchildren. Born on May 25, 1933, in Pittsburgh, PA, Era Mae was the daughter of Champ Brooks and Mary Maretta Hall Brooks. Her life's journey was marked by her unwavering faith, devotion to family, and a heart full of compassion. Era Mae was preceeded in death by her loving husband, Clarence Patrick, and her siblings, Johnell Brooks, Mary Watkins, Jack Brooks, Buddy Brooks, and Marie Brooks. She is survived by her devoted children, Larry Lavender, Denise Lavender, David Lavender, Kevin Lavender, Patricia Patrick, and Nancy Patrick. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, Tyrone Parker, Ebony Parker, Jessica Lavender, Jordan Lavender, Clairion DuBose, Sydney Lavender, Rachel DuBose, Lauren Lavender and her great-grandchildren, A'Nai Parker, Adyn Parker, and Mikkel West. A proud graduate of North Braddock High School, Era Mae pursued her passion for education, earning her Bachelor's Degree from Columbus College and Troy State University. She dedicated 33 years of her career to nurturing young minds as an educator in the Muscogee County School District. Era Mae was a pillar of her community and an active member of South Columbus United Methodist Church, where she greeted congregants with warmth and participated in the Seniors Ministry, Vacation Bible School, and numerous church activities. She found joy in serving others through the Christian Round Table Ministry, Martha Jones Foundation, Frank Chester Senior Center, and Justice Unity, Generosity, and Service (JUGS). An avid reader, she was also a cherished member of several book clubs. She was also presented a key to the CIty by Mayor Poydasheff in honor of her 80th birthday. Her vibrant spirit was evident in her love for travel, dancing, water aerobics, and chair exercise. She delighted in mentoring youth, participating in back-to-school drives, and was known for her impeccable style. In her younger years, she volunteered with the Red Cross, Parent Teacher Associations, and played softball, embodying her favorite sayings, "I'm Hopping, But I'm Not Stopping" and "GOD IS LOVE!" Mrs. Era Mae Patrick was a true Christian example of love and joy. Her optimism, caring nature, and inspirational presence touched the lives of all who knew her. She believed deeply in supporting the education and development of children and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A service celebrating Era Mae's life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM at South Columbus United Methodist Church, located at 1213 Benning Drive, Columbus, GA 31903. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests donations to a charity of your choice, in memory of Era Mae's generous spirit.
