With profound sadness and hearts full of gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Mrs. Anastacia Obianuju Chukwuma, who departed this life on January 8, 2026. Born on July 15, 1957, in the bustling city of Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria, Anastacia embodied grace, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family and community.
Anastacia was the cherished daughter of the late Chief Vincent Ekwealor Mmeh and Mrs. Matilda Adaoba Ekwealor Mmeh, and she was predeceased by her beloved brother, Chief Stephen Ekwealor Mmeh. Raised in a family that valued tradition and unity, Anastacia carried these principles throughout her life, touching everyone she met with kindness and love.
She shared a blessed and enduring marriage with her devoted husband, Chief Basil Okechukwu Chukwuma, known affectionately as Isimmili Anam. Together, they built a life rich in love and family, raising seven children who were the pride and joy of Anastacia's life. Her sons Engr. Chukwuma Anizor, Anthony Chukwuma, Chidozie Collins Chukwuma, Olisa Justine Chukwuma, and Stanley Okechukwu Chukwuma, and her daughters Eunice Chinasa Okafor, Rita Chukwuma, and Nina Nnenne Onuakanna carry forward her legacy of compassion, integrity, and dedication.
Anastacia's love extended beyond her immediate family to her treasured brothers, Adrew Ekealor Mmeh and Cyprian Ekealor Mmeh, and her adored eight grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her nurturing spirit and gentle guidance will be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A devout Catholic, Anastacia's faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through all of life's joys and challenges. Her commitment to her church and community was unwavering, and she was a beacon of hope and support to many.
Friends and family will gather to honor and celebrate Anastacia's remarkable life at a service on June 5, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church Umudora Anam, located at No. 12 Chukwuma Anizor Street, Umuagu Umudora Anam. Her memory will forever be a source of inspiration and strength to all who knew her.
