Mr. Larry Donell Wright Sr.

Mr. Larry Donell Wright Sr. was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was a testament to hard work, devotion, and love. Born on July 25, 1956, in Atmore, Alabama, Larry brought joy and warmth to all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He departed this world on August 3, 2026, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends. Larry was the beloved son of the late Doretha McDuffie Wright and Willie B. Wright. He grew up surrounded by the love of his family, including his predeceased sister, Nancy Carelock Jenkins, and brother, Terry Tyrone Wright. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Wright, and maternal grandparents, Caleb McDuffie and Larcenia Farley McDuffie. Larry's early life in Uriah, Al was filled with the values of faith and community. As a youngster, he joined Bethel Rock AME, a foundation that stayed with him throughout his life. After moving to Tampa, Florida, Larry pursued a career as a local truck driver, where he was known for his dedication and reliability. Upon returning to Alabama, he became an active member of Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Michael L. Wilson, Sr. Larry's passions extended beyond his work and faith. He had a remarkable talent for grilling and enjoyed spending time doing lawn care, ensuring that his surroundings always reflected his meticulous nature. Music was another of his great loves, and he was often the go-to person for all things musical among his family and friends. Left to honor Larry's legacy are his two sons, Albert (Tiffany) Wright of Houston, Texas, and Larry Donell Wright Jr., along with his four treasured grandchildren: Aaron Wright of Mobile, Alabama, and Albert Jr., Tomeka, and Toshekia Wright, all of Houston, Texas. Larry's siblings, Delois (Michael) Wilson, Auritha Powers, Allison (Albert) Chambers, Markief Wright, and Roger (Stephanie) Cooper, will also continue to hold his memory close. A service to celebrate Larry's life will be held on August 14, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2982 Jack Spring Rd, Atmore, Alabama. Family and friends are invited to gather and share in the remembrance of a life well-lived. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Langton King Jr. for being an unwavering friend during times of need.
