It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mr. David G. McMoore, who peacefully departed this world on May 28, 2026, at Carilion Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Born on September 1, 1946, in the close-knit community of Danville, Virginia, David, affectionately known as "Mac" to many, lived a life marked by service, dedication, and unwavering love for his family and friends. David was the beloved son of the late William T. McMoore and Marie M. McMoore. He was also predeceased by his son, Daniel McMoore, his sister, Dorothy Mae McMoore, and his brother, James Berkley McMoore. He leaves behind his cherished wife, Earnestine McMoore, whose steadfast love was his guiding light. Together, they built a loving family, and David’s legacy continues through his five children: Donald Ray Thompson, David McMoore Jr., Kelly McMoore, and Thomas Hall. His life was further enriched by the joy of his 15 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and many dear relatives and friends. David was educated in the Danville Public Schools system, laying a strong foundation for his future endeavors. He dedicated 35 years of his career to Dan River Mills, where he was known for his hard work, integrity, and commitment to excellence. Later, he served the City of Danville for 17 years, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues and community alike, before retiring to spend more time with his family. David was also a proud veteran, having served several tours in the military, including two tours in Vietnam and three tours in Germany. His service to his country was marked by courage and honor, and he carried the values of discipline and resilience throughout his life. Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, David was a beacon of kindness in the community. He was a man who believed in the power of giving and was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer sage advice. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit and the values he imparted will continue to inspire those who knew him. A celebration of David’s life will be held on June 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Bibleway Cathedral located on Grant Street. Family, friends, and community members are invited to gather and honor a man whose life was defined by love, service, and loyalty. Though our hearts are heavy with the loss of David, we find comfort in the memories we hold close and the knowledge that his legacy of love, strength, and kindness will endure for generations to come. As we say goodbye, we are reminded that while his earthly journey has ended, his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. May David G. McMoore rest in eternal peace, enveloped in the love of those who have gone before him, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
