It is with heavy hearts and deep respect that we announce the passing of Mr. Cornelius Poole, a beloved father, brother, and friend, who left this world on June 21, 2026, at the age of 59. Born on February 2, 1967, in Miami, Florida, Cornelius was the cherished son of Melvin Poole and Corine Harrington Poole.
Raised in the vibrant city of St. Petersburg, Florida, Cornelius graduated from Gill Senior High School and soon after embarked on a journey of service by enlisting in the United States Army on January 9, 1989. His dedication and commitment to his country were evident throughout his two years of service, culminating in an honorable discharge on December 26, 1991. This period of his life was a testament to his bravery and unwavering sense of duty.
Cornelius's life was a tapestry woven with music, family, and a love for nature. After his military service, he spent 15 joyful years in Atlanta, Georgia, where he found his passion as a DJ, bringing joy and rhythm to countless parties and creating mix tracks that resonated with many. His love for music was surpassed only by his love for his family, with whom he shared countless memories by the riverside and at the beach—places that brought him immense peace and happiness.
Cornelius is survived by his two devoted daughters, Brianna and Cortni, his son-in-law, David Levels, and his adored grandchildren, Zyelle and Dawson. His siblings, Angela Jenkins, Linda Brown, Nathaniel Surrency, and Gwenolyn Kinsey. Along with his girlfriend Diane Ward, he had numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of close friends, mourn the loss of a man who was truly outgoing and loving.
A service in honor of Cornelius's life will be held on October 9, 2026, at 1:30 PM at the Jacksonville National Cemetery, located at 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, Florida, 32218. "Legacy of a Veteran
You marched with courage, heart and pride, through distant lands, so far and wide. You stood for peace, your duty true, a silent hero, brave and new.
Through battles fought, through night and day, you paved for us a safer way. The flag you served now rests with grace, in hearts you touched, you hold a place.
Now sleep, dear soldier, rest in light, your spirit shines through stars so bright. Forever honored, brave and strong, in grateful hearts, you will live on."
Mr. Cornelius Poole's warmth, laughter, and steadfast love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, embraced by the everlasting light of the stars.
In lieu of flowers, the family of MR. Cornelius Poole welcomes donations to a charity, nonprofit, church, or organization of your choosing.
