It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Norine Benton Pikey who peacefully left this world in her sleep on April 3, 2026, enveloped by the love of her family and cherished dogs. Born on March 17, 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was a beacon of warmth and joy throughout her 71 years.
Daughter to Patricia Covert Benton and Donald Benton, [Mother's Full Name] was a woman of resilience, strength, and boundless love. She was predeceased by her parents, her dear grandparents, and her nephew, Eddie Lomax, who all held special places in her heart.
Her life was a testament to the profound love she shared with her family. She is survived by her devoted children, who are grateful for her unconditional love and guidance. Her legacy continues in her 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the cherished memories and values she instilled in them. Norine was blessed with two loving marriages. She was married to Roger Kelm Sr. from 1972 to 1984, and later found lifelong companionship in Carl Pikey, with whom she shared her journey from 1990 until her passing. Her partners were drawn to her vivacious spirit and the warmth she exuded in every aspect of life.
A true culinary artist, she spent her adult life working as a cook and waitress, delighting countless patrons with her incredible talent and generous spirit. Outside of her professional life, she was an ardent fisherwoman, finding peace and joy by the water's edge. Her dogs were her constant companions, and she cared for them with the same dedication she showed her family.
Norine was known for her infectious personality and her ability to light up any room. Her cooking was legendary, her family gatherings unforgettable, and her laughter contagious. She was the life of the party, a role she played with grace and enthusiasm, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of her life will be held on April 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the 1st Baptist Church, located at 301 East Capitol Ave, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Family and friends are invited to join in remembering a life well-lived and to share in the love and joy she brought to the world.
As we bid farewell to our cherished Mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great grandmother we hold her close in our hearts, forever grateful for the love she shared and the memories she created. In the words of her family, "Forever in our hearts."
