August 28, 1928 — March 31, 2026

In loving memory of Mother Lucille Fields, who graced this world with her presence on August 28, 1928, in the vibrant city of Manhattan, NY. On March 31, 2026, she peacefully departed this life at Kings Harbor Nursing Home, surrounded by the love and prayers of family and friends. Her journey was marked by incredible courage and unwavering hope, serving as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her. Lucille was the beloved daughter of the late Leland and Ressie Lula Burgess and the cherished sister of the late Arletta Long. She is survived by her devoted husband of 80 years, Charles Fields, her sister Mildred Lee, and her loving children: Jeanette Gadsden, Charlene Reid, Charles Fields, and Leland Fields. Lucille's legacy continues through her eight grandchildren—Horace Reid (Sophia), Lucille Graham (Russell), Anthony Gadsden, Lashawna Evans (Tarik), Rashad Gadsden, Christine Fields, Charles Fields (Melissa), Brian Fields—and her 20 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit and teachings. The love story of Lucille and Charles began with their marriage on September 13, 1944. Together, they built a foundation of strength and unwavering faith, raising their children with a firm hand and hearts full of God's love. Throughout her life, Lucille was a beacon of Christian values and a pillar in her community. She lived faithfully by God's will, dedicating herself to the Cathedral of Greater Faith since January 5, 1992, where she was an active member and a cherished presence. A graduate of Mable Dean Bacon High School, Lucille was not only a devoted wife and mother but also a woman of talents and hobbies that brought joy to her family. She possessed a keen sense of humor and a strong will, always saving wisely and living by example. Her love for sewing and cooking created countless memories and delicious meals for her family, binding them together with threads of love and care. Mother Fields' life will be celebrated at a service on April 16, 2026, at 7:00 PM, held at The Cathedral at Greater Faith, located at 4214 White Plains Road, Bronx, NY. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be available via livestream on Facebook and YouTube under The Cathedral at Greater Faith. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all who called, visited, and supported them during this time. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of strength and comfort. In honoring Mother Lucille Fields, we remember a life full of grace, humility, and an unyielding devotion to her family and faith. May her memory be a blessing to us all.
