In loving memory of a cherished soul, we honor the life of May Bitz, who graced this world on May 29, 1943, in the vibrant city of Santa Fe, New Mexico. With a heart full of love and courage, May departed this life on June 9, 2026, at the age of 83, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family in the comfort of her home.
May was the beloved daughter of John and Lena Bitz, whose nurturing spirits guided her through a life rich with love and resilience. She was predeceased by her devoted parents and her brothers, Ray and Carl, who undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms into the eternal embrace.
A devoted mother and grandmother, May’s legacy lives on through her children, Sandra Walck and husband Brent, Kim Rumschlag and husband Gerry, and Christy Duffy and husband Mike. Her nurturing spirit and warm embrace were constants in the lives of her five grandchildren—Savannah, Kristin, Brock, Sydnee, and Allie—who were a boundless source of pride and joy. Her love extended into the next generation, blessing her with five great-grandchildren: Oliver, Lula, Levi, Lake, and Shepherd, whose hearts she touched deeply with her gentle nature.
Throughout her life, May was a dedicated and hardworking individual. She began her career as a waitress, where her warm smile and kind words made everyone feel at home. Her journey then led her to roles at United, Safeway, and Homeland, where she was known for her unwavering work ethic and compassionate spirit. Later, she found her calling as a secretary for the nursing department at Western Oklahoma State College, where she supported countless students and faculty with grace and diligence.
May faced her health challenges with unwavering strength and dignity, dealing with diabetes, kidney failure, and dementia. Despite these trials, her spirit remained unbroken, a testament to her incredible resilience and the deep well of love she drew from those around her. Her life was a tapestry woven with threads of kindness, strength, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community.
As we celebrate May's life, we remember her as a beacon of light, whose love and gentle spirit touched everyone she met. Her legacy of love, perseverance, and dedication will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends. May's memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A private family service will be held to honor May's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in her memory to a diabetes or dementia research charity of your choice, continuing May's legacy of care and compassion for others.
May Bitz will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her journey may have ended, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all whose lives she touched.
