In Loving Memory

Kathrine Rose Walsh
May 17, 1940 — May 7, 2026
With profound sadness yet deep appreciation for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of a cherished matriarch, a beloved friend, and a devoted caregiver, known to all simply as Mother. Born on May 17, 1940, in the heart of Webster County, Missouri, she graced this world with warmth and resilience that touched everyone she met. She peacefully departed from us on May 7, 2026, at Westview Healthcare, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and compassion.
Mother was the cherished daughter of Adolph and Nellie Simmerman, who instilled in her the values of hard work and dedication. She is now reunited with them, along with her siblings Ralph, Wayne, Marcella, Ethal, Mildred, Illamay, and Joan, and her beloved husband, Con Walsh, in eternal rest.
In 1959, she embarked on a new chapter of her life with her first marriage to Carl J. Samdahl, with whom she lovingly raised six children. Her nurturing spirit knew no bounds, and she was blessed with a large and loving family, including her surviving children: Kenneth Samdahl (Brenda), Kelvin Samdahl (Rose), Earl Samdahl, Stephen Samdahl, Annetta Sayer (Brett), and David Samdahl. Her legacy continues to blossom through her 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish their memories of her wisdom and kindness.
Mother dedicated her life to the service of others, particularly through her esteemed career in the medical field. She retired with honor from the Veterans Hospital in Sheridan, Wyoming, where her colleagues and patients alike admired her dedication and empathy. Her career as a nurse was a testament to her unwavering commitment to caring for others, a reflection of her generous spirit and profound compassion.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mother found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader, a fan of old westerns, and a devoted gardener who took meticulous care of her roses. Her quick wit and steadfast nature left an indelible mark on all who knew her, never hesitating to stand her ground when it mattered most.
A service to honor and celebrate her remarkable life will be held on May 11, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Sheridan Municipal Cemetery, located at 1000 Ash Ave, Sheridan, Wyoming. Those who wish to pay their respects are invited to join the family in commemorating a life that was as vibrant and nurturing as her beloved garden.
As we bid farewell to a woman who so profoundly touched our lives, we do so with gratitude for the endless love and memories she has given us. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will forever dwell within our hearts, reminding us to live with the same grace and courage that she did.
Rest in peace, Mother. Your legacy will continue to flourish, just as your roses will forever bloom in our hearts.
