Charma Ann (Candy) Zube

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Candy Stewart Zube on May 19, 2026, at the age of 81. She left this world as she lived, surrounded by love and comfort, at a nursing home in Live Oak, Texas. Born on February 23, 1945, in the charming city of Alexandria, Louisiana, Candy was one of two cherished daughters of Joseph and Margie Stewart. Raised in a loving home, she was instilled with values of kindness, resilience, and dedication, which she carried with her throughout her life. Candy's journey through life was painted with vibrant colors and rich experiences. On August 23, 1964, she married the love of her life, Dannie Earl Zube, embarking on a whirlwind adventure that took them around the globe. Together, they explored the wonders of Saigon, Vietnam, Thailand, and Scotland. Their travels were a testament to their shared love for exploration and each other. The couple eventually settled in Shreveport, Louisiana, where they nurtured a warm and loving family. While their union was tragically cut short by Dannie's passing on January 24, 1981, Candy found strength in her memories and the legacy they built together. Candy and Dannie's love was a guiding light, and through their 17 years of marriage, they welcomed two wonderful children, Danni Renee Zube Cramer and David Stewart Zube. Candy's professional life was one of dedication and service. She worked as a secretary for the J.B. Stewart Construction Company, where her attention to detail and commitment to excellence shone brightly. Her career later took her to the Pineville, Louisiana Veterans Administration, where she continued to serve with integrity and compassion. A woman of many interests, Candy found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener whose hands could coax blossoms into the most exquisite arrangements, bringing beauty and color to the world around her. Her love for flowers was matched only by her affection for her feline companions, whose gentle purrs and loving presence brought her endless comfort and joy. Candy is survived by her sister, Paula Stewart Powdrill, her children, Danni and David, who carry forward her spirit of love and resilience. She had multiple grandchildren, and she was blessed with the joy of being a great-grandmother. As we bid farewell to Candy, we remember a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort those she loved. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart have touched many, and her legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew her. A memorial service to celebrate Candy's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful life she lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a local animal shelter, reflecting Candy's enduring love for cats and her compassionate spirit. In our hearts, Candy will forever remain, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, whose life was a testament to love and kindness. May she rest in peace.
