January 22, 1970 — May 10, 2026

It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of loss that we announce the passing of Monica Ann Swinger Solomon, affectionately known as “Mookie” who departed this life on Mother’s Day May 10, 2026, at the age of 56. Monica was born on January 22, 1970, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late Willie G. Swinger and Willie Ralph Swinger. She lived a life filled with love, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and faith. Monica’s journey in education began in the Atlanta Public Schools, where she graduated from Brown High School. Her dedication to learning continued at Ashworth College, where she earned an Associate’s Degree and embarked on a career at Emory Hospital. There, she devoted herself to medical billing and coding, always approaching her work with excellence and care. Monica was a beacon of faith and service as a faithful member of Greater Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Byron L. Brossuard. Her relationship with the Lord was the cornerstone of her life, and it was evidenced in her daily actions of kindness, generosity, and love. Monica believed deeply in helping others, often putting their needs before her own. Her gentle spirit and servant's heart left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Monica's life was a tapestry woven with love and family. She is survived by her devoted husband, Rickey Solomon, and their children: daughter Rakiya Monique Solomon, and sons Dr. Dorrian Lee Swinger (Sequoia), Antonio Solomon, Antwon Solomon, and Rickey Solomon Jr. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished dearly, and she leaves behind ten beloved grandchildren: Rian, Amari, Jordyn, Josiah, Blake, Blair, Brielle, Sameerah, Nadia, and Aniyah, who were the light of her life. She will be lovingly remembered by her seven sisters: Barbara Lovett (Douglas), Alicia Swinger, Shannon Robbins, Shanay Robbins, Sheri Robbins, Sharday, and Sharon Robbins, as well as her three brothers: Antonio Weaver (Daphne), Ralph Swinger, and Eric Swinger (Sharon). Monica's extended family and dear friends, including aunts, uncles, cousins, and many others, will forever treasure her memory and the joy she brought into their lives. Monica was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Willie G. Swinger and Willie Ralph Swinger, whose love and values she carried forward into her own family. Her life will be celebrated at The Love Center, located at 1680 Campbellton Road, Atlanta, Georgia 30311, on May 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join in honoring and remembering Monica’s beautiful journey and enduring legacy. Though Monica is no longer with us, her warmth, wisdom, and love will continue to resonate through generations, inspiring those who knew her to live with compassion and grace. She will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. Rest in eternal peace, dear Monica. Your legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in our hearts.
