Mona Barrera
October 1, 1969 — August 27, 2026
Celebrating the vibrant life of Mona, who left us on August 27, 2026, leaving a legacy of love, laughter, and craftsmanship. Born on October 1, 1969, in the heart of Lubbock, Texas, Mona was a cherished daughter of Olivia and Daniel Garza. She was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and an exceptional caregiver whose life was a testament to her dedication to others.
Mona's journey through life was beautifully intertwined with her beloved husband, Jamie Silvas, with whom she shared 35 wonderful years. Although Jamie and their son, Luis Barrera, have since passed, Mona's unwavering love for her family continues to shine through her surviving daughters, Brandi and LaVonda Barrera, her daughter-in-law, Stephanie Palacios, and her treasured grandchildren.
Mona was a woman with a heart full of love and a spirit that embraced the joys of life. Her home was often filled with laughter as she hosted gatherings, bringing family and friends together with her infectious sense of fun. She was known for her love of crafting, particularly wood crafts and painting, where she found solace and joy in creating beauty with her hands.
Her career as a caregiver spoke volumes of her compassionate nature, as Mona was always ready to lend a helping hand and care for those in need. Her legacy of kindness and dedication will be fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Mona was predeceased by her husband Jamie, her son Luis, her parents Daniel and Olivia, and her granddaughter Nyra Holland. Her family and friends take comfort in the knowledge that they are reunited in peace.
A celebration of Mona's life will be held on August 31, 2026, at 4:26 PM at the Agape Funeral Home, located at 6625 19th St #103, Lubbock, TX 79407. Those who wish to honor her memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting Mona's own spirit of generosity and care.
Mona's laughter, love, and artistry will forever be etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind. As we remember her vibrant life, we hold her close in our hearts, cherishing the memories and the legacy of love she has left with us.
