In Loving Memory

Doris Lucchesi
October 14, 1934 — March 13, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, "Mom" Lucchesi, who left this world peacefully on March 13, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on October 14, 1934, in Providence, Rhode Island, Mom lived a life full of love, warmth, and creativity, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know her.
Mom was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Emily Pimental. She grew up in Providence, attending Hope High School, and later pursued studies at Katherin Gibbs, where she honed her skills as a paralegal secretary. Her professional journey began at Loring Studios in Providence, where she dedicated herself as a secretary for many years. Later in life, a move to Vermont allowed her to touch young minds as a Teacher Assistant with the Vermont School Department.
A woman of many talents, Mom was an avid quilter and seamstress, whose hands crafted beautiful pieces filled with love and artistry. Her passion for oil painting, drawing, and arts and crafts was matched only by her love for gardening, where she found peace and joy in nurturing life. Her creative spirit was a source of inspiration to her family and friends, who cherished her handmade gifts and the joy she brought into their lives.
Mom's life was one of service and compassion, as shown in her involvement with Stephen Ministries, where she extended her heart and hand to those in need. Her deep faith and kindness were guiding lights to her family, who admired her gentle strength and unwavering love.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Alfred Lucchesi, her sister, Eileen Mahar, and her dear parents, Joseph and Emily. Her legacy lives on through her daughter, Cynthia Matarese, and son-in-law, Fred Matarese; her sons, Edward F. Holland Jr. and Stephen Holland, along with his wife Ann; her siblings, Joseph Pimental, Alan and Mary Ann Pimental, and Josaphine Pimental. She was the proud grandmother of Kayla Matarese, Karissa Pryor, and Keaghan Holland, and a delighted great-grandmother to Lillyana Matarese, Lorenzo Matarese, Lucianna Alfanso, and Ivan Pryor.
In her final years, Mom was cared for with exceptional love and dedication by the staff at Anchor Bay at Pocassett Memory Care in Johnston, for which our family is profoundly grateful. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Gentiva Hospice Care for their unwavering support during this difficult time.
A private ceremony will be held to honor Mom's life and legacy. While we gather in the intimacy of family to celebrate her journey, we carry her spirit with us in our hearts, comforted by the love she bestowed upon us.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Mom's memory to organizations supporting dementia research and care, as a tribute to her enduring spirit and the challenges she faced with courage and grace.
Mom's legacy is one of love, resilience, and creativity. Her laughter, wisdom, and gentle touch will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those who knew her. She leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories, woven with love and devotion, that will continue to warm our hearts for generations to come.
