It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Patricia "Pat" Meyers Sawchuk, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Pat passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family at her home in Georgia. She was 87 years old.
Born on June 10, 1938, in the beautiful town of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Pat was the beloved daughter of Art and Alice Meyer. From a young age, she demonstrated a lively spirit and an enduring zest for life. She graduated from Kennedy Collegiate and later pursued continuing education in the insurance industry, marking the beginning of a successful career that spanned both Canada and the United States.
Pat was predeceased by her loving husband, William G. Sawchuk, and her dear daughter Judith, whose memories she cherished deeply. She is survived by her devoted children: daughter Linda; sons Tommy, with Hope; Donald, with Diane; and her supportive brother Terry, with Patti. Her legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, five and a half great-grandchildren, and a multitude of nieces, nephews, their children, and a vast circle of friends who were touched by her kindness.
Pat's career in the insurance industry was marked by diligence and integrity. She was not only a skilled professional but also a mentor and a source of inspiration to many. Her commitment to community service was evident in her dedicated work with the local Coop food and clothing program, where she spent several years making a difference in the lives of those in need.
Her vibrant personality was complemented by her love for bowling, playing cards, and participating in senior centre activities. Pat was known for her outspoken and straightforward demeanor, a quality that endeared her to those who knew her well. Her punctuality and dependability were matched only by her warmth and kindness.
Family was at the core of Pat's heart. She relished every opportunity to gather her loved ones, whether it was a holiday celebration or a sporting event. Her love for the sun and the water led her to countless adventures on boats, sailboats, and idyllic days spent at the lake or beach, where she found joy and tranquility.
Pat's unwavering love for animals reflected her compassionate nature, and her home was always a welcoming place for all creatures. Her legacy is one of love, strength, and a life devoted to the happiness of others.
As we bid farewell to Pat, we celebrate a life that was rich in love and purpose. Her memory will forever remain a guiding light for her family and friends, reminding us of the beauty of a life lived with passion, kindness, and unwavering dedication.
A celebration of Pat's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honour her remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local animal shelter or community service organization in her memory.
Forever in our hearts, Patricia "Pat" Meyers Sawchuk will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
