It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Susan Marie Thompson, affectionately known as "Mom" to her family and friends. Susan departed from this world on May 11, 2026, at the Riverside Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion that will forever be cherished. Susan was born on January 27, 1954, in the heart of Topeka, Kansas, where she was lovingly nurtured by her devoted parents, Saul and Gloria. Her upbringing in Topeka was marked by a deep sense of community and family, values she carried with her throughout her life. A devoted mother and grandmother, Susan is survived by her sons, Shane (Andrea) and Adam (Beth), who were the light of her life. Her grandchildren, Janay and Lucas, were her greatest treasures, bringing her immeasurable joy and pride. Susan's loving spirit will live on in their hearts and in the stories they share about their cherished "Grandma Sue." Susan was also a cherished sister to Sharon (Zvika), Rebecca, and Alisa, who will forever hold her memory close. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her family, reaching her friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Preceded in death by her parents, Saul and Gloria, and her dear niece, Brittany, Susan now rests in eternal peace, reunited with those she loved so dearly. Susan's life was one of quiet strength and unwavering kindness. Her warmth and generosity touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on her community. She found joy in simple pleasures, such as sharing laughter with friends and family, tending to her garden, and supporting the arts. Her commitment to the Ground Floor Theater reflected her passion for creativity and her belief in the power of storytelling. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Ground Floor Theater in Susan's honor, continuing her legacy of supporting artistic endeavors (https://www.groundfloortheatre.org/). The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Susan's lifelong friend, Lisa, whose unwavering friendship and dedication provided immense comfort and support during Susan's final days. The compassionate care from the nurses at New Century Hospice is also deeply appreciated, as their kindness brought solace to Susan and her family. Susan's life was a testament to the beauty of human connection. Her memory will forever be a guiding light for her family and friends, reminding them of the profound impact of love and kindness. As we gather to celebrate her life, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were blessed to share with her. A celebration of Susan's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will come together to honor her remarkable journey and the love she bestowed upon us all. Until then, let us remember her with smiles and laughter, just as she would have wished. Rest in eternal peace, dear Susan. Your presence will be missed, but your spirit will resonate in our hearts forever.
