Connie Ann McMillian

In Loving Memory of Connie Ann McMillian Connie Ann McMillian of Bellevue, Nebraska formerly from Leavenworth/Lansing, known by her middle name "Ann" peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on August 19, 2026, at Hospice House of Omaha, Nebraska, after a long illness. Born on March 15, 1950, in Cleveland, Tennessee, the daughter of John and Bessie Chastain. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1969 and began a training program to become a nurses aide where her first job was working alongside her mother (also a nurses aide) at a long term care facility and later in the nursery at the old Providence/St Margaret's Hospital in Kansas City Kansas where she worked with her future Mother-in-Law Vera "Chris" McMillian who introduced Ann to her son James "Jim" McMillian who was serving in Vietnam at the time. They communicated by writing letters back and fourth and in one of those letters Jim proposed to Ann. They were married on April 8th,1972 in Kansas City Kansas. Ann dedicated much of her life to her family as a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. In her earlier years she worked as a nurses aide at St John Hospital in Leavenworth KS then opting to be a stay at mom to her two daughters, Annette and Kerri. She later worked at Kinder Care and in the early 1990's worked as a sales associate for Sears at the old Leavenworth Plaza for seven years. She lived in the Lansing /Leavenworth area until 2006 when Jim accepted the pastorship of a small E-free church in Auburn,Nebraska. Ann's life was deeply rooted in her faith in Jesus. She had a gentle spirit and a kind heart. She enjoyed watching MeTv and old western movies that had John Wayne and shows like Bonanza and the Virginiaian. She loved singing, listening to oldies, christian music. She enjoyed being involved in a women's bible group, and most of all spending Ann loved time with and visiting family especially during the holidays and summer break where her granddaughter Kelsey spent about a month with her every year. Whenever Ann was at home she always had a song in in her mouth or hummed a tune as she went about her day. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 36 years, the Reverend James "Jim" McMillian,(2008)Her parents John(2025)and Bessie(2011)Chastain, her mother and father-in-law Vera"Chris" McMillian(2021)and Hollis McMillian,(2003)her sister-in-law Joy Collins(2011),and son-in-law Christian Camlin.(2024) She is survived by her daughters, Annette Camlin of Lawrence, Kansas, and Kerri (Kelly) Campbell of Gretna, Nebraska. Her siblings Linda (Steve) Morrison, Danny Chastain, David(Patty)Chastain, Susan (Rick) Vogel, Judy Meli, and Steven Chastain, along with brothers-in-law Jan (Kay) McMillian and John (Sandy) McMillian, sister-in-law Jean McMillian, and her seven grandchildren, Matthew, Selden Kelsey, Calen, Connot, Lily, and Jonah and many nieces and nephews. Ann's life was deeply rooted in her faith in Jesus. She enjoyed watching MeTv, old westernsp movies and shows like Bonanza and the Virginiaian. She enjoyed reading, singing, listening to oldies, gospel and christian music. She was involved in a women's bible group, and most of all she enjoyed time spent with visiting family especially during the holidays and summer break especially when her granddaughter Kelsey would come and stay with her for several weeks every year. Her grandchildren were her world. Whenever Ann was at home she always had a song in her mouth or hummed a tune as she went about her day. A service to celebrate Ann's life will be held on __at Rock of Ages Chapel at_, 910 Randolph, Leavenworth, Kansas 66048. Followed by a procession to Ft Leavenworth National Cemetery ending with a reception at Rock of Ages Chapel. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Hospice House of Omaha for the exceptional care and compassion they provided Ann in her final months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ann's memory to the Hospice House of Omaha, Omaha, Nebraska.
