Molly Thompson George
July 11, 1933 — March 1, 2026
It is with profound sadness and gentle reverence that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Molly Thompson George, who was called home on March 1, 2026, at the age of 92. Molly left this world peacefully, surrounded by the comfort of her family and the warmth of her cherished home.
Born on July 11, 1933, in the vibrant city of Alachua, Saint Petersburg, Florida, Molly was the cherished daughter of Cornell Thompson, Sr. and Carrie Bell Thompson. She was deeply rooted in her family, predeceased by her loving parents, grandparents Isaac Banks and Everlena Randell, her sister Hazel Thompson, brothers Cornell and Henry Thompson, her son-in-law Darryl L. Bell, and her dear aunt Helen King.
Molly's journey was marked by a rich tapestry of love, learning, and laughter. A proud graduate of Gibbs High School, Class of 1951, she continued her education at Florida A&M University, where she nurtured her passion for knowledge for two years. Her professional life was dedicated to General Electronic, where she devoted 28 years of service, embodying diligence and commitment.
In 41 years of marriage to the late Otis George, Jr., Molly found a partner in both life and love. Together, they built a nurturing home filled with the laughter and joy of their children: Kelvin, Keith, Alan, Beverly, Cheryl, Janet Bell, and Twarnette Miles. Molly’s legacy is further enriched by her 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring love and strength she imparted.
Molly's spirit was deeply intertwined with her faith as an active member of Moore’s Chapel A.M.E for over 92 years, a community that she cherished deeply. Her sweet and sassy personality lit up every room, and her willingness to offer a helping hand — whether through food, clothing, or shoes — was a beacon of generosity to those less fortunate.
Her interests were as vibrant as her personality. Molly was an avid shopper, finding joy in the aisles of Publix, Dillards, and Macy’s, and she relished her visits to the HardRock Casino. Her evenings were often spent enjoying her favorite television shows, from "The Young and The Restless" to "The Chase," each episode a small joy in the tapestry of her life.
A celebration of Molly’s life will be held on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Moore’s Chapel A.M.E, located at 3037 Fairfield Avenue S., St. Petersburg, FL 33712. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared their love for Molly, offering solace and support during this time of remembrance.
In the words of her family, “Thank you to all who came out and expressed their love for Molly. Forever in our hearts and never forgotten!” Molly’s legacy is a testament to a life well-lived, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering generosity. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
