It is with profound sadness and yet warm remembrance that we announce the peaceful passing of Mitzie Marie Collier Reichmann, who departed this life on February 26, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on August 23, 1959, in the charming town of Bloomington, Indiana, Mitzie was a beacon of love and warmth in the lives of many. Mitzie was the cherished daughter of Clarence "Jack" and Mable (Sexton) Collier, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her beloved brother, Lenny Payton, and her sisters, Robertine Linthicum, MaryAnn Taylor, JoAnne Rydl, Joyce McCartney, and Judy Hosapple. Despite these profound losses, Mitzie’s heart was always full of love and joy, shared generously with all who knew her. A devoted wife and mother, Mitzie is survived by her loving husband, Robert Reichmann, with whom she shared many beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a family rooted in love and compassion, blessed with their daughter, Sarah R. Hicks, and sons, Jeremiah (Lorna) Reichmann, Elijah Reichmann, and Zech Reichmann. Her legacy of love continues through her eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who were the apple of her eye. Mitzie was also a treasured sister to Barb Dubois and Ruth Ann Walcott and a dear friend to many who became family over the years. Her circle of love was wide and inclusive, a testament to her generous spirit and welcoming heart. A proud graduate of Bloomington South High School, Class of 1977, Mitzie was an active member of the choir and the Cinderellas, a testament to her love for music and community. She furthered her education with accounting classes at Ivy Tech, always eager to learn and grow. Throughout her career, Mitzie wore many hats, from working at the Drive In, KMart, and Walnut House Flowers, to serving the community at Brown County Parks and Rec and the FSSA office. She also ran her own cleaning service, but her most cherished role was with Healthy Families of Indiana, where she made a lasting impact with her care and dedication. Mitzie’s commitment to her community was evident in her roles as a member of Eagle Moms at Brown County High School and as a founding advisor for the Brown County Teen Council. She also gave her time and talents to 4-H and Junior Leaders, always eager to nurture and guide the younger generations. Her hobbies painted a picture of a life full of joy and creativity. An avid reader, she delighted in the thrilling works of Stephen King. She found peace and expression in quilting and crafts and shared countless joyful moments during family board game nights and video game sessions. Mitzie was also known for her love of scenic drives, trying new eateries, and spending cherished moments with friends and family. Mitzie’s character was marked by intelligence, loyalty, and an immense capacity for love. She had a gift for making friends easily, never meeting a stranger, and her heart was always open to those in need. Her family and friends, who truly became family, were the cornerstones of her life. Her family invites all who knew and loved Mitzie to join them in a Celebration of Life, with details to be announced shortly. It is in this gathering that we will honor the incredible legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion. Mitzie Marie Collier Reichmann’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. While her physical presence will be deeply missed, her love will continue to guide and inspire us.
