With heavy hearts and profound respect, we celebrate the life of Mittie D. Borden, who peacefully passed away on April 19, 2026, at the age of 76. Born in Pageland, South Carolina, on April 15, 1950, Mittie brought warmth and kindness to everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Mittie was the beloved daughter of the late Arthur Michael and Anna Geretha Crowder Michael. She was raised in a home where kindness and community were cornerstones, a philosophy she carried throughout her life. Her siblings, Margaret Vail, Nancy Burden, and William Michael, recall a childhood filled with laughter, love, and the strong bonds of family.
For 57 beautiful years, Mittie shared her life with her devoted husband, Henry Borden. Together, they built a loving home and raised four wonderful children: Natasha Quick, Kochshina Borden, Deborah Borden, and David Borden. Mittie’s role as a mother was one of her greatest joys, and her nurturing spirit extended to her ten great-grandchildren: Keith Quick Jr, Jasmine Quick, Nikine Borden, Natash Ralse, Jayne Lashey Riley, Jermaine William Riley Jr, Indya Leigh, ShiAnne Borden, Annette Mittie Borden, Davita Marion Borden, and David King Mushasha Borden, Lydia Shema Borden. She found immense happiness in seeing her family grow and thrive, each member a testament to her enduring love and guidance.
Professionally, Mittie dedicated her career to serving others in the textile industry, where she excelled in customer service. Her colleagues and clients alike admired her unwavering dedication and warm demeanor, qualities that defined her both in and out of the workplace.
Mittie was a faithful Jehovah's Witness for 53 years, a commitment that was central to her life. Her faith provided her with strength, purpose, and a community that cherished her deeply. Her spiritual journey was a testament to her unwavering belief and dedication.
Known to many as the cook of the family, Mittie's kitchen was always filled with the inviting aromas of her special dishes, particularly her renowned fried chicken and fried fish, as well as her much-loved macaroni and cheese. Her meals were more than just food; they were expressions of love, bringing family and friends together in moments of joy and togetherness.
As we mourn the loss of Mittie, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led and the indelible impact she made on those around her. Her kindness, strength, and love will forever be remembered and cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The Borden family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. Memorial plans will be announced at a later date, as we come together to honor and remember the beautiful life of Mittie D. Borden.
