It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Mitchell Moore, who departed this world on May 12, 2025, at the age of 67. Born on September 12, 1958, in the beautiful Caribbean, Mitchell lived a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity.
Mitchell left us as he lived, with grace and peace, slipping away quietly in his sleep after a joyful evening spent playing bingo with cherished friends. His thoughts, even in his final moments, were of those he loved, ensuring that his last wishes would provide comfort and support to family and friends.
Preceded in death by his devoted grandmother Portia, grandfather Gregory, beloved brothers Raymond and Clarence, sisters Rosemarie and Violet, and dear lifelong friends Franklin and Winston, Mitchell's journey was enriched by their memories, which served as a beacon throughout his life.
Mitchell is survived by a loving family, including siblings Miss Martin of Albany, Georgia, Camora Jackson, Taraji Simpson, and Akayleigh, along with numerous friends such as Kathy Moring, who each held a special place in his heart. A proud grandparent, he leaves behind 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, whose lives he touched with his kindness and humor.
In 1979, Mitchell found his soulmate and lifelong partner in Jeffie Lou Saints, with whom he shared a marriage rooted in deep affection and mutual respect. Intellectually driven, Mitchell excelled academically, graduating high school three years early and later earning a degree in higher education. He served his country with honor in the military and spent a significant part of his professional life working as a farm hand, close to his roots. His passion for knowledge led him to study law and criminal justice, and upon retirement, he continued to give back to the community as a teacher.
Mitchell's dedication extended beyond his personal achievements. He was a proud supporter of the FFA, always ready to lend a helping hand. Known for his quick wit and warm smile, Mitchell had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued. His generosity and genuine kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Mitchell found joy in woodworking, cooking for communities, and gardening with his grandchildren, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. His life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and service to others.
In accordance with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life. The family extends a heartfelt message of gratitude to the caregivers and medical staff at Crisp Regional, whose compassion and dignity provided immense comfort in Mitchell's final days.
While we mourn the loss of Mitchell's physical presence, we celebrate the enduring light of his spirit. His legacy of warmth and friendship will forever echo in the hearts of those who loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mitchell's memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting his life of generosity and care for others.
Forever loved, infinitely missed, and never forgotten, Mitchell Moore's memory will continue to inspire us all.
