January 27, 1938 — October 17, 2026
Misty Baker, a source of much love and laughter, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2026. Born on January 27, 1938, in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Misty lived a life filled with unwavering faith, quiet strength and joy. She was the cherished daughter of Edgar and Dorothy Durkee and the beloved sister of Arthur Durkee.
Misty was the devoted wife of James E. Baker, with whom she shared 55 excitement filled years of marriage. Together, they created a loving family that became the center of Misty's life. She was the proud mother of Susan, Peter, James, John and Julie, and her eleven grandchildren who shared much laughter with her: Michael, Justin, Katelyn, David, Andrew, Kevin, Kyle, Savannah, John, Aimee, and Samantha. Her legacy of love continues through her fourteen great-grandchildren: Henry, Branson, Evelyn, Nora, Olive, Makenzie, Jackson, Emerson, Luke, Austin, Kimber, Savannah, Margo, and Wells.
Throughout her life, Misty found ways to share her faith with compassion and care. After the children were grown she studied and became an ordained elder in the Church of the Nazarene, where her prayers, encouragement, and listening ear provided comfort and support to countless individuals. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she lived each day with a spirit of grace and humility that touched everyone she met.
Misty's kindness and warmth were felt by all who knew her. She had an innate ability to make everyone feel valued and heard, always offering a gentle smile and a kind word. Her home was a haven of love, and she welcomed friends and family with open arms, creating memories that will be cherished forever.
Those who wish to honor Misty's memory are invited to make donations in her name to Compassionate Care ALS, located in West Falmouth, MA.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to celebrate Misty's life. Misty’s ashes will be combined with her beloved Jim’s and scattered on a warm, sunny day on the waters of the Cape. Though she will be deeply missed, Misty's spirit will continue to inspire and uplift her family and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
