Miriam Coslet

Miriam Belle Eads Coslet peacefully departed this world on August 3, 2026, at the age of 86, surrounded by her family at the Haven of Tuscola nursing home. Her passing marked the end of a courageous battle with dementia. Born on July 15, 1940, to Ethel and James Eads, Miriam grew up with a loving family in Illinois. Her roots were firmly planted in the values of love, resilience, and community—a legacy she continued to nurture throughout her life. February 7, 1959, Miriam married her beloved husband, Donald Coslet, and together they built a beautiful life in Murdock, Illinois where they raised their three children. Miriam was a devoted wife and mother, who found joy in the simple pleasures of family life, never letting anyone leave her home without feeling cherished and, most importantly, well-fed. Her career as a Building Service Worker at the University of Illinois was a testament to her work ethic. She actively contributed to her community through her involvement with the Methodist Church in Murdock. She and Donald dedicated themselves to the meticulous upkeep of the Murdock and Fairland cemeteries. Miriam's home was a sanctuary of warmth and hospitality, most known for her famous peanut butter fudge and sweet iced tea. Her kitchen was the heart of countless gatherings. Miriam's welcoming nature and insistence on a warm embrace before a farewell are memories cherished by all who knew her. She is predeceased by her parents, Ethel and James Eads; her husband, Donald Coslet; her brother Johnny Eads; her sister Evelyn Merritt; and her son Myron Coslet. Miriam is survived by her siblings James "Sonny" Eads, Dorothy Wenner, Loretta Hamilton, Margie (Randy) Knoblauch, Mary Frances "Fran" Richards (Robert McGraugh), and Shirley Vrablic. Her legacy continues through her daughters Deborah (Charles) Deem and Paula (Daniel) Deem, Daughter-in-law Tiffany Coslet, and six grandchildren—Daniel (Katie) Deem, Zachary (Laura) Deem, Cameron (Christy) Deem, Andrew (Ashley) Deem, Lukas Deem, and Marykatherine (Brannon) Kotch—and her ten great-grandchildren, Preston, Griffin, Callahan, Connor, Caralee, Casen, Caroline, Grace, Ryder, Charlee Deem all of whom carry forward her spirit of love and generosity. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Haven of Tuscola and the team at Transitions Hospice Care, whose dedicated care provided solace during Miriam's final days. A private funeral service will be held to honor Miriam's life and legacy.
